Alexander Campbell was born on February 8, 1820 on the island of Jamaica. He arrived in California on August 7, 1849 on the Barque Peytona after a journey around Cape Horn. His occupation was the practice of law. Mr. Campbell died in Los Angeles on July 6, 1911. From the description of Autobiography and Reminiscence of Alexander Campbell : "Address delivered by Alexander Campbell before the Bar Association of Los Angeles at their annual dinner, April 17, 1902", San Francisco, 1904.
